Typical western movies involve cowboys, Indians and fast draw shooting. There's not many new things Hollywood can bring to the table. Though "Appaloosa" does bring somewhat of a twist to this tired formula, the end product is still pretty mediocre.

The plot is hardly satisfying, and leaves room for more.

Lyric Opera San Diego is opening its 30th anniversary season with the production of the Broadway smash hit musical "Candide." When Lyric Opera previously ran the show, it sold out its entire run, according to Lyric Opera's press release.

"Candide," a comedy based on the novella of the same name by the French philosopher Voltaire, is a story of self-discovery and adventure, intertwined with a touch of romance.

Switchfoot Gives Back to Habitat for Humanity in the Music Builds Tour

Nobody was surprised by the sold-out tickets and the success of the Music Builds Tour, which featured three leading Christian artists, Third Day, Jars of Clay and Switchfoot at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater Friday.

The money raised from the tickets went directly to the local Habitat for Humanity.
