Only 22 percent of young adults ages 18 to 24 years old voted in 2006, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, the "Speak On It" live forum was held in the Santos Manuel Student Union and hosted by Joshua Fredenburg. Representatives from "Rock the Vote" and MTV's "Choose or Lose" were also at the event.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's signature made the $215 million deficit for the California State University System (CSU) official on Tuesday, Sept. 23, ending the longest budget stalemate in California history.

The deficit should come as no surprise to CSU students and officials, who experienced a similar budget deficit last year.

The library officially opened its goliath automatic glass doors last Monday. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in commemoration. The library had a "soft" opening over the summer, after its $64,200,000 renovation and addition. The project added 71,771 square feet to the university library.

The Associated Students' Senate filled the empty vice president seat Tuesday when they selected Senator Adrian Bolvarte Chong to the post with a vote of 14 to 9 over Senator Stephanie Narrow.

Prior to the vote, each candidate was allowed a two-minute time frame to persuade their fellow senators to support them.

California's community colleges face hard financial times despite the end of the state budget impasse, according to fiscal experts in the state and district Chancellors' offices.

"We need to be prepared for mid-year cuts," said Fred Williams, vice chancellor of finance and facilities at North Orange County Community College District, "On paper it looks like not a bad budget for us, but it's a bad budget statewide in terms of addressing the structural problems.
